Be Generous – Bible Business Tip #6

Proverbs 11:25

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

What was the reason you started or want to start your passive income business? There are a lot of ways to answer that question. However, the one that is right up there is to make money! Everyone wants to make money. But we all know (or should know) that money doesn’t bring happiness. But I believe one of the ways  to bring happiness relates to what you do with your money.

A generous man will prosper. This includes women too. :) How many stingy people do you see prospering? Exactly. Help other people, companies, business, and you will prosper. Also, I am not just talking about money. You can be generous with your time, knowledge, experience, contacts, etc.

Refresh others with your various forms of generosity and you will be surprised how often and how quick that generosity comes back to you.

Proverbs 22:29

Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

How good are you really at what you do. Would people consider you skilled? This says that people skilled in their work will serve before kings. Kings, (and any other authority, big shot, company, etc.) only want the best. They hire really skilled people. Are you one of them? If not get there. Become skilled; learn new skills techniques and technologies. Keep growing.

If you want to work with the top people, you need to be seen as a top talent.

Proverbs 10:4

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

This is pretty self explanatory. If you are lazy you will be poor. However if you are diligent, wealth will come. Diligent is defined as “constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything”.

The question you need to ask yourself is “Am I being diligent in going after passive income?” Are you constant in effort to accomplish it? Are you attentive and persistent in your goal? Or are you just lazy? Be real with yourself.

Here are some quotes to drive home the point. :)

Winston Churchill failed sixth grade. He was subsequently defeated in every election for public office until he became Prime Minister at the age of 62. He later wrote, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never, Never, Never, Never give up.”

Thomas Edison‘s teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything.” He was fired from his first two jobs for being “non-productive.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’€™t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

Albert Einstein did not speak until he was 4-years-old and did not read until he was 7. His parents thought he was “sub-normal,” and one of his teachers described him as “mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift forever in foolish dreams.” He was expelled from school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School. He did eventually learn to speak and read. Even to do a little math.

Proverbs 14:23

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

There are 3 points I want you to take away from this scripture.

First, if you want profit you need to put in the hard work. Yes I said it. You need to work your business in a hard way to make serious money. I am not preaching any get rich quick schemes here. No “put up a website and money will fall from heaven” stories. All the top entrepreneurs put in long hours and patience to get where they are today. Which leads me to my second point…

All hard work does bring a profit. You may already be working hard in your business. But you aren’t seeing any profit yet. Notice the scripture doesn’t give a time estimate as to when the profit will come. But take heart! Be patient. As I said in the last Bible Business Tip, the money will come.

Third, just talking leads only to poverty. A lot of people just talk. They talk about their dreams, desires, and goals. But nothing will be accomplished if you just talk about them. You need to take action. You need a game plan and/or strategy to make those things happen. If you don’t,  your dreams will stay just that…dreams.

If you stop at talking, take action, and work hard for your dreams it will surely bring a profit.
